Version 0 of 1.

A worker at a steel plant has been suspended pending an investigation over an allegation a cat was thrown into a vessel normally used for molten steel.

Tata in Port Talbot is looking at CCTV to see if the incident, in which the cat was found dead, was recorded.

The inquiry is in its early stages but it is understood the allegation does not involve the cat being thrown into molten steel itself.

A Tata spokesperson says the firm is taking the allegation very seriously.

"We've received an allegation which we're investigating," he said.

"One employee is under precautionary suspension pending the investigation."

It is understood that no owner of the cat has come forward and it may have been one of the feral cats that live on the 12 sq mile (31 sq km) site.
