A fire has broken out at a cattery in Staffordshire. Some cats have died in a fire at a cattery in Staffordshire.
Up to 30 firefighters have been tackling the blaze on the A34 Stafford Road after the alarm was raised at about 05:30 GMT. Up to 30 firefighters were called to Pinetrees Cattery in Huntington, north of Cannock, after the alarm was raised at about 05:30 GMT.
A Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said two cats were taken away by vets, but it was not known whether any had died. A spokeswoman for the cattery said some cats had escaped but some had died. No staff were injured.
All the people at the site have been accounted for, the fire service spokesman said. A Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said the fire broke out in one of the site's buildings at Stafford Road.
The A34 has been partially blocked in both directions north of Cannock. The spokesman added that two cats were taken away by a vet.
The spokesman added: "A vet attended and has gone away with two live cats but we do not know anything about any cat fatalities. "The cattery owners will be contacting the animals' owners in due course," he added.

Drivers have been warned to expect delays on the stretch between Pottal Pool Road/Broadhurst Green Road and Limepit Lane.
