New witness halts Jessie inquest Arrests due in Jessie death probe

The inquest into the death of murdered schoolboy Jessie James has been halted after a new witness came forward. Police investigating the murder of Jessie James are to make arrests, the inquest into his death heard.
The inquest at Manchester Crown Court heard that the witness, known only as XZ, had given a statement to police. Pete Weatherby, the 15-year-old's family barrister, said a new witness had come forward with vital information for the police murder inquiry.
Pete Weatherby, solicitor for the family of the 15-year-old, told the court it was an important development in the police murder inquiry. Coroner Nigel Meadows agreed to adjourn proceedings after being told of the "significant development".
Manchester Coroner Nigel Meadows agreed to adjourn proceedings temporarily on Wednesday morning. Det Supt Shaun Donnellan of Greater Manchester Police, is expected to make a statement on the development.
Members of Jessie's family were being privately informed of the latest development. Earlier, Mr Weatherby told the court: "My understanding is that as a result of these new pieces of evidence there is now going to be arrests in respect of this murder."

Addressing the court, which is sitting amid tight security, Mr Weatherby said: "My understanding is that the witness has given a full statement to the police. I have not seen it.
"I have spoken to the police on behalf of the family and the police are anxious to discuss this development with the family before these proceedings go any further.
"It really is quite an important development."
