Aberdeenshire Council leader Anne Robertson praised the work of the emergency services and council staff in co-ordinating the response to the incident. Aberdeenshire Council chief executive Alan Campbell told BBC Scotland: "A huge amount of work was done yesterday by emergency services, the council and indeed the residents.
"Things are settling down a bit. Quite clearly, it will be a while until everyone can get back. Over half the village is OK, the other half has been pretty badly affected."
