Accused appears over town murder

A man has appeared in court charged with the murder of 41-year-old Declan McNeil in Magherafelt.

Ryan Loughran, 27, from Derramore Avenue in the town, appeared at Londonderry Magistrates Court.

Mr McNeil's body was found in the hallway of his home in the Glenburn Park, Baron's Court, area of the town at about 0500 BST on Saturday.

Mr Loughran denied the charge and the court was told he gave police a full and frank account of what had happened.
