The coastal village of Pennan may have to be evacuated as heavy rain continues to cause major problems in the north east of Scotland. Householders in the coastal village of Pennan have been forced to leave their homes because of severe flooding.
The Banffshire village has endured a night of heavy rain and the homes of residents are at risk. The heavy rain is said to have caused mudslides in the small Banffshire community.
Grampian Police said the heavy rain was causing other problems throughout Grampian region. The police and fire services have been considering whether to evacuate the whole village.

Police and fire officials will decide how best to tackle the problems in Pennan. Linda Stanton, who works at the Pennan Inn, told BBC Scotland: "I was woken up by firefighters evacuating people.
'In shock'
"All I could see was the mud right to the end of the village coming across the road. We are worried more could come down.
"Everybody is getting as much stuff as they can out as they have to go to temporary accommodation. No-one has been hurt but people are in shock."
