A baby girl has died following a fire at a house in County Fermanagh. A baby girl has died following a fire at a house in County Fermanagh. Two adults and another child managed to escape.
The child, who was eight months old, died in a blaze at a house in Drumbawn, Enniskillen. Her name has not been released. The baby, who was eight months old, died in the blaze at a house in Drumbawn, Enniskillen, which began at about 1000 BST on Saturday.
Emergency services were called to the house shortly after 1000 BST on Saturday morning. A neighbour raised the alarm. Firefighters found the dead baby in an upstairs bedroom.
A police spokeswoman said detectives were carrying out an investigation to establish the cause of the fire. There are no more details at present. Fergal Leonard, Fire and Rescue Service, said it was "harrowing".
"The call to the Northern Ireland Fire and Rsecue Service was made by a neighbour in a house opposite.
"Whenever the firefighters found the little girl, unfortunately she had tragically lost her life. We also worked with members of the ambulance service and this was confirmed."
The baby's mother is said to be extremely distressed.
Police in Enniskillen are investigating the cause of the fire.
The Fire and Rescue Service has urged householders to ensure they have a working smoke alarm and fire escape plan.
