Ryan Esquierdo pleaded guilty to the culpable homicide of Stuart Walker in Cumnock on 22 October last year. Ryan Esquierdo, 19, choked 28-year-old Stuart Walker to death at an industrial estate in Cumnock on 22 October last year before setting his body alight.
The 19-year-old was due to go on trial for murder at the High Court in Glasgow but the Crown accepted his plea to the lesser charge. He was due to go on trial for murder but the Crown accepted his plea to the lesser charge of culpabale homicide.
Mr Walker had been out at a party with friends before his body was found near Cumnock's Caponacre Industrial Estate. The High Court in Glasgow heard of Esquierdo's "uncontrollable rage" during his violent attack on Mr Walker.
