Two children are hurt when a stolen car crashes in Belfast.

Two children were hurt when a stolen car hit another vehicle in north Belfast, the police have said.

It happened on Ballysillan Park at about 20:30 GMT on Monday. The children, aged four and ten, were treated in hospital for their injuries.

The car was hijacked in east Belfast and was used in robberies in Glenavy and Ligoniel, during which a shop worker was stabbed.

Two men, aged 18 and 28, have been arrested.

Shortly before 19:30 GMT two men, one armed with a knife, approached two women as they were getting into their car in Station Street, east Belfast. They demanded the keys and took the car.

Less then half-an-hour later a man with a knife stabbed a 43-year-old employee in a shop on the Ligoniel Road during an attempted robbery. He fled without taking anything.

The injured man was treated for a wound to his shoulder.

At about 20:15 GMT a man with a knife took cash from a shop on Main Street in Glenavy after threatening staff.

A short time after this the crash happened in north Belfast. The injuries to the children were not life-threatening.

Police have appealed for anyone who witnessed any of the incidents to contact them.
