Detective denies misconduct charge
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-20181049 Version 0 of 1. A counter-terrorism detective has denied one charge of misconduct in a public office over claims she passed information to the News of the World. DCI April Casburn, 53, is accused of offering the now-closed newspaper information about Operation Verec. This was the investigation into whether the Metropolitan Police inquiry into phone hacking should be reopened. At a hearing at the Old Bailey she was told that a date for her trial would be fixed in the near future. DCI Casburn, who is currently suspended from work, is also facing a separate charge under the Official Secrets Act which can only be dealt with by magistrates. It is alleged she kept secret documents at her home without permission. DCI Casburn was released on unconditional bail until her next court appearance. |
