Man's body found in flooded area Body find in search for teenager
(30 minutes later)
The body of a man has been discovered in a flooded area of Tewkesbury. Rescue teams searching for a teenager who went missing during heavy flooding have recovered a body.
Police received a call at about midday on Saturday from an Italian search and rescue team who were in the area helping Gloucestershire Fire Brigade. Mitchell Taylor was last seen in the early hours of last Saturday after leaving a bar in Tewkesbury.
The body, which has not yet been identified, was found in Gander Lane and the coroner has been informed. The 19-year-old's family said his disappearance, which coincided with the peak of the floods in the Gloucs town, was "totally out of character".
A 64-year-old man and his son were found dead on Wednesday. Bram Lane and his son Chris died while they were cleaning up Tewkesbury RFC. A police spokeswoman said the body had been discovered by an Italian hovercraft crew in a submerged field.
Police would not comment on whether the body found on Saturday is that of Mitchell Taylor, 19, who went missing in the town more than a week ago. She said: "Fire service travelling in a hovercraft on a submerged field off Gander Lane, Tewkesbury, found a body yet to be identified.
"The coroner has been informed."
