Two cross-Channel ferries collided in high winds and rough seas.

The P&O ferry Pride of Burgundy hit the MyFerry ship Berlioz outside Calais in northern France at about 11:30 local time (10:30 BST) on Saturday.

A spokeswoman for P&O said its ferry had been blown into the other vessel as the ship left the port.

There were no passengers on the Berlioz. None of 200 passengers on the Pride of Burgundy was injured and they were transferred to another ship.

The P&O ferry suffered "minor damage to the right bridge wing" and the ship was back in operation within two hours, the spokeswoman said.

A passenger on board reported that the collision was hardly felt on the ship.
