A British security worker has been killed in Iraq, his employer has said.

Richard Sedgley, 36, from Wolverhampton in the West Midlands, is thought to have been killed in a roadside bomb on Sunday 8 October.

His employers, The Olive Group, confirmed his death but did not release any specific details.

The firm provides security for staff involved in rebuilding work. Arrangements are being made to fly Mr Sedgley's body home.

A statement released by the firm said: "We confirm that one of our employees, Richard Sedgley, was tragically killed on Sunday, October 8 in a hostile incident while working in support of the international reconstruction efforts in Iraq.

"Our thoughts and condolences and support are with the family and friends of Richard at this difficult time."

An investigation into the circumstances of his death is being held by the firm.
