Israeli airstrikes killed two Hamas gunmen in the Gaza Strip on Tuesday. Israeli officials said the squad had been preparing to launch rockets into Israel. The air force operation followed Palestinian attacks, including a bomb blast that severely wounded an Israeli Army officer patrolling the Gaza border. Hamas did not comment on Israel’s allegation that its members who were killed were preparing rocket launches. Six rockets were fired across the border on Tuesday, the Israeli military said, though they caused no casualties. The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, a small militant group, claimed responsibility for planting the bomb that exploded on the border.
