GMTV has also announced refunds will be offered to anyone who entered their contests and were wrongly excluded. He said he hoped his resignation, along with a series of new initiatives, would help "restore trust" in GMTV.
A £250,000 charitable donation has also been made to Childline. Viewers who believe they were affected can apply to the station for a refund.
