Man released after terror arrests

One of three men arrested in Manchester on Wednesday for alleged terror-related activity has been released.

A judge granted police a further seven days' detention for the other two men arrested under the Terrorism Act 2000.

A fourth man was arrested under immigration laws and his case is being handled by the immigration service.

Police said they made the arrests following information received about alleged terrorist activity and of the existence of a potential threat.

Terrorism unit

Three men were arrested at Stockport Road, and a fourth was arrested at Hamilton Road, both in the Longsight area of the city.

The investigation is being led by officers from Greater Manchester Police's Counter Terrorism Unit.

Police said there were no links to any recent incidents or investigations.
