Version 0 of 1.

A retired Church of Scotland minister who has been accused of murdering his elderly wife has had his bail opposed by the Crown.

At Glasgow Sheriff Court, Sheriff Brian Kearney granted bail to 70-year-old Rev Richard Coley.

However, the Crown opposed the decision and Mr Coley, of Mount Vernon, Glasgow, will now remain in custody until a new bail hearing in Edinburgh on Monday.

He is charged with murdering his wife Isobella, 70, on 12 July.

Mrs Coley, who was thought to have been a dementia sufferer, was stabbed to death at their home in the city's Hamilton Road.

Mr Coley, minister at the city's Victoria Tollcross Church until he retired in 2004, was represented by solicitor advocate Des Finnieston.

He made no plea or declaration and was fully committed.
