Three people have been rescued after being trapped on the first floor of a building by flood water in south Wales. | |
There were also unconfirmed reports of Richard Gwyn High School in Barry, Vale of Glamorgan, being evacuated after a stream burst its banks. | |
Floods made parts of the town impassable, with sewage in the street, and one man was trapped in his car. | |
Fire crews launched a dinghy for three people in the building, and two others made their way to safety. | |
There were also reports of two cats drowning after water flooded the Maximum Exposure tanning salon in the town. | |
More heavy rainfall is forecast for much of Wales and southern England during the day. | |

The trapped people were in a building at the junction of Vere Street, Cardiff Road, Western Hill and Gladstone Road in Barry. | |

"One man was also trapped under a bridge in his car. | |
"The problem seems to be blocked drains which have sent sewage into the street. But the situation is improving." | |
