A man has been remanded in custody in connection with the shooting of a student at a university concert. | |
Aaron Waller, 21, was shot in the chest, leg and buttocks while working as a security guard at a hip-hop gig at Loughborough University on 11 March. | |
Jermain Winston Carty, 29, from Canary Grove in Birmingham, appeared before magistrates at Melton Mowbray charged with attempted murder. | |
He was also charged with possessing a firearm with intent to endanger life. | |
Mr Carty, who was arrested in the Huddersfield area on Sunday, is due to appear before Leicester Crown Court on 23 October. | |
The shooting took place at the university's Students' Union at a gig by US hip-hop star Pretty Ricky. | |
Six people suffered minor injuries in the incident, which also involved the discharging of a CS spray canister. |
