Taxi driver clue in murder hunt

A taxi driver could prove to be a vital lead for police investigating the deaths of a mother and her children.

Beverley Samuels, 36, her daughter Kesha Wizzart, 18, and son Fred, 13, were found beaten to death at their house in Manchester last Thursday.

Pierre Williams, 32, who was arrested in Birmingham, is being questioned on suspicion of their murder.

The driver called at a house in Manor Road, Levenshulme, on Thursday, before dropping a man off in the city centre.

It is thought the driver may have picked a man up in the Fallowfield area before stopping at the Levenshulme address for about 10 minutes.

Tributes of flowers and toys have been laid outside the family homeThe driver then continued to the city centre, dropping the fare off at either Piccadilly railway station or a bus station.

Police said the male passenger was black, in his early 30s, about 5ft 8ins tall, of medium build and wearing a black leather jacket.

"If this sounds familiar to any cab driver, I would urge you to contact our incident room," police said in a statement.

"You may hold vital information which could be of great help to the investigation."

The taxi driver is Asian, middle-aged and was wearing gold-rimmed glasses.

Post-mortem examinations revealed that Mrs Samuels, Kesha and Fred all died of head injuries.
