Police have begun a murder inquiry after a pensioner's body was discovered at her home in Donaghadee, County Down. | |
A 36-year-old man is being questioned over the death of Tilly Campbell, 77. | |
Firefighters found her body at her home in Barnagh Park at about 0600 BST on Monday after they were called to the scene following reports of a fire. | |
Appealing for information, a detective said they were following a "definite line of inquiry" and patrols were being stepped up in the area. | |
DCI Sean Wright, who is leading the investigation, said it was "vital that anyone who knows what happened to come forward and talk to us". | |
"I would like to assure the community that there is a dedicated team of detectives committed to this investigation, following a definite line of inquiry," he added. | |
A police spokeswoman said detectives who were trying to piece together Tilly's last movements wanted to speak to anyone who had seen her on Sunday. | |
