Two 16-year-old students from London have been arrested in Ghana allegedly carrying £300,000 of cocaine. | |
The drugs were said to have been found on the girls at Accra airport by officers from the Ghanaian Narcotic Control Board (NACOB). | |
The officers were taking part in Operation Westbridge, a project set up by HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) in conjunction with Ghanaian authorities. | |
The Foreign Office said the girls were receiving consular assistance. | |
A spokeswoman said: "We are aware of the arrest of two British national minors on 2 July at Accra airport. | |
"Next of kin have been informed and we are providing full consular assistance." | |
She said the Foreign Office was unable to confirm any personal details due to the girls' age. | |
