The M1 and M6 motorways in Leicestershire and Northamptonshire have been closed after a lorry struck a bridge. Two of England's busiest motorways have been closed in the Midlands after a lorry struck a bridge.
The incident took place on the southbound carriageway south of junction 19 just after 0600 BST. The M1 was closed both ways between junctions 18 and 20 when the crash happened on the Leics/Northants border.
The lorry's load was scattered across all lanes and led to police sealing off the area. And traffic travelling south on the M6 is being diverted at junction 1, near Rugby, Warks, causing tailbacks.
A section of the central reservation of the M1 was removed near the crash scene by junction 19 to allow cars on the motorway to be turned back.
