Elderly man dies in road accident

A 79-year-old man has died in hospital after being struck by a car in Warrenpoint's Summerhill Road area on Monday.

The driver of the car was taken to hospital after the vehicle collided with a wall.

His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening. The Summerhill Road was closed for a time.

The pensioner's death brings to 57 the number of people killed on Northern Ireland's roads so far this year.
