A 27-year-old man has been charged with murder after a body was found in a shallow reservoir.

Mark Ball, 40, was discovered in the reservoir at Drake's Place Park in Plymouth on Sunday last week.

A man arrested on Friday was charged with Mr Ball's murder and will appear before Torbay magistrates on Monday.

Police inquiries are continuing and officers have appealed for anyone who was in the area or has information about Mr Ball's death to come forward.

'Loving father'

A post-mortem examination was carried out on the body but was inconclusive on establishing the cause of death.

Further enquiries are being conducted by a pathologist into the death of Mr Ball who was found fully clothed in the park.

The divorced father of three had been described by his ex-wife Sallyann as "a gentle, loving father" who had suffered a string of tragedies.

She said he had been in good health and in contact with his children but he had embarked on a "self-destructive lifestyle".
