Two people have been killed in a plane crash in County Galway. Two people have been killed and seven injured after a plane crash in County Galway.

Initial reports indicated that two or three people were trapped in the plane and had to be cut out. Four were taken to hospital, but two have since died. The pilot and eight passengers were airlifted to hospital, where two later died. Two are critically ill.
The air accident investigation unit has begun an inquiry and an inspector is flying to the scene, which is about 25 miles west of Galway city. It is understood the group were businessmen on their way back after a trial flight to the Aran islands. An investigation is under way.
"We can confirm there are two fatalities," a garda spokesman said. It is understood three people had to be cut from the wreckage. All the injured have been taken to Galway Regional Hospital.
