Gale-force winds and heavy rain forecast for Devon and Cornwall Gales sweep into South West
(about 1 hour later)
High winds and heavy rain have again been forecast for south-west England.
The Met Office said heavy showers, some of which could be thundery and with a risk of hail, were expected to develop widely on Friday. A rescue helicopter has airlifted three crewmen injured on two boats in stormy weather off the Isles of Scilly.
Gale-force winds, gusting up to 50mph (80km/h) have also been forecast. One man suffered a broken ankle and two others suffered a fractured arm and cuts.
The rescues by RNAS Culdrose came as gale-force winds and large swells were recorded in Cornwall.
It followed the rescue of a yacht which lost engine power off the coast of Newlyn on Thursday and another knocked over off the Isles of Scilly.
Rain warning
Ken Bazeley of Falmouth Coastguard said in the injuries were probably due to the weather conditions at sea.
He said: "There are several vessels that we are monitoring all the time as they make their way back to Falmouth or Plymouth or the south coast of Cornwall that have suffered mast or steering problems."
A number of boats were ripped from their moorings on Thursday night in Falmouth and Penryn in Cornwall.
Gale-force winds of up to 46mph have been recorded on Friday at RNAS Culdrose.

Flooding risk
Councillor Stuart Hughes said: "We may experience conditions over the next few days which will be similar to last week's storms that brought down a number of trees.
"However, the greater concern is the risk of flooding and surface water with the amount of rainfall that's forecast."

A "delicate" marine conservation operation to place hundreds of baby lobsters on the seabed off Plymouth has also been postponed because of the weather. Claire Jeavons, from Beverley Park, in south Devon said the weather was causing some holiday-makers to stay away.
The babies from the National Lobster Hatchery at Padstow were due to be deposited on a 17th Century shipwreck by members of the Bude Sub-Aqua Club, but the project has had to be rescheduled.
Warnings from the Environment Agency to caravan and campsite operators about being ready to take action and "alarmist" weather forecasts have upset a holiday park owner from Paignton, Devon.
Claire Jeavons, from Beverley Park, said it was causing some holiday-makers to stay away.
"Just this week we have been hearing that all caravan parks in the West Country are on flood alert, and this simply isn't the case," she said."Just this week we have been hearing that all caravan parks in the West Country are on flood alert, and this simply isn't the case," she said.
"We've been receiving many calls from worried customers, but we assure them that flooding at our altitude would also mean the entire English Riviera was hundreds of feet underwater.""We've been receiving many calls from worried customers, but we assure them that flooding at our altitude would also mean the entire English Riviera was hundreds of feet underwater."
Ms Jeavons said forecasters were trying to cover "all eventualities", but their gloomy outlooks could pose a threat to Devon's vital tourist trade.
She said it would be a pity if "waverers" - people thinking of holidaying in Devon - decided to "beat a retreat overseas" because of the forecasters' pessimism.
