A man has been stabbed with a sword in his east London home, prompting an appeal to trace three youths. A man has been stabbed with a sword in his east London home after trying to scare off three intruders.
The man, 65, tried to scare the youths off from his garden in Barking Road, East Ham, at about 01:30 BST on Saturday. The man, 65, had the sword on display in his living room and tried to scare off the youths in his garden in Barking Road, East Ham.
But the group got inside his house, and one then stabbed the man with a Samurai sword which was inside the building. But it is thought two of them got inside the house and in the confrontation the man was stabbed.
Police said the victim was in a stable condition with multiple wounds at an East London hospital. The victim is in a stable condition with multiple stab wounds following the incident at 01:30 BST on Saturday.
A Scotland Yard spokesman said: "The victim awoke to noises outside his bedroom window and saw three youths in his front garden. He shouted at the youths to scare them off.
"He then took a sword that he had on display in his living room and returned to a window and waved it at the youths.
"Moments later he returned to look out of his bedroom window again and saw no-one outside. He walked out of his bedroom to find out that two of the youths were standing on his landing."
During the incident the man suffered several stab wounds and is now in an east London hospital.
Police said the sword has not been found and have appealed for anyone with information to come forward.
