Police have made a direct appeal to people in south-east London for fresh information on the stabbing of a 17-year-old girl a week ago.

Carley Furness was stabbed in the neck and stomach when she took a shortcut through Priory Gardens, Orpington. She is still in hospital.

On Thursday, Peter Anscombe appeared at Bromley Magistrates' Court charged with attempted murder.

Mr Anscombe was remanded in custody to appear at the Old Bailey on 11 January.

Officers handed out leaflets on Saturday morning on Court Road, where Miss Furness got off a bus to walk through the park. Police are aiming to jog the memories of people who were around that area at the time of the incident, a spokeswoman said.

Miss Furness was attacked at about 0840 BST.

Police say she managed to get to the road before collapsing.
