Man held on 1988 pensioner murder

A man has been arrested in connection with the murder of a pensioner almost 19 years ago.

Lily Smyth's body was found in her flat at Moveen House in Dunmurry on the outskirts of Belfast on 9 October 1988.

The 66-year-old had been strangled. The man who was arrested is believed to be in his 40s.

He was arrested in County Antrim on Tuesday morning and is currently being questioned at Antrim Police Station.
