Police divers have been searching for a missing person after a body was pulled from a car found submerged in a river in North Yorkshire. Emergency services were called to the River Swale, near Marske Bridge, where a Nissan Micra had crashed and was found almost completely under water. Firefighters recovered a woman's body, but found no sign of a second person reported to have been in the car. Police have appealed for anyone who saw the car on the A6108 to contact them. North Yorkshire Police said the crash at about 1530 BST happened on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales, near Richmond. A police spokesman said: "It is believed there is one other person missing from the vehicle. "It is believed the car had been travelling towards Reeth from Richmond when it came off the road. "Police are still trying to piece together the details of what happened." The search operation was called off on Friday night and was due to restart on Saturday. |
