Version 0 of 1.

Plaid Cymru chiefs have backed a proposed coalition with Labour in the Welsh assembly.

Earlier this week, the historic deal was agreed in principle by Rhodri Morgan and Ieuan Wyn Jones.

At a meeting in Rhayader, Plaid's National Executive "overwhelmingly endorsed" the One Wales document, which lays out the plans for power-sharing.

The deal now needs to be approved at a special Labour conference on 6 July, then by a Plaid conference on 7 July.

The conferences will give grassroots supporters of both parties the opportunity to air their views.

'Concerns'

So far, the agreement has been backed by both Labour and Plaid AMs and by Labour's Welsh executive, as well as Plaid's National Executive.

However, an "overwhelming majority" of Welsh Labour MPs are said to have "serious concerns" about the prospect.

Labour First Minister Rhodri Morgan has said the One Wales document negotiated with Plaid Cymru offered "stable and progressive government for the people of Wales".

Meanwhile, Tories say they have an "historic opportunity" in opposition in Cardiff Bay.
