Details are emerging of Gordon Brown's Cabinet overhaul which will include David Miliband as foreign secretary and Jacqui Smith as home secretary. Gordon Brown has apppointed Jacqui Smith as Britain's first female home secretary in a huge Cabinet overhaul.
Alan Johnson will be health secretary, Douglas Alexander will be international development secretary and Peter Hain will be work and pensions secretary. Alistair Darling becomes chancellor, David Miliband foreign secretary, Alan Johnson health secretary and Peter Hain trade and industry secretary.
Mr Brown, who has pledged a government with "new priorities", is expected to make Alistair Darling his chancellor. Mr Brown's closest political ally Ed Balls will be the newly-created schools and children secretary.
Ruth Kelly goes to transport, Jack Straw is the new justice secretary and Hilary Benn moves to environment.
