Heroin with an estimated street value of £12.5m has been seized in a raid in the east end of Glasgow.

The Scottish Crime and Drugs Enforcement Agency (SCDEA) said officers arrested a 44-year-old man.

Tuesday's haul, at Blochairn Fruit Market, is said to have been more than double the amount of class A drugs seized by the SCDEA in the last year.

A spokesman for the SCDEA said the seizure would have an impact across the entire country.

The Paisley-based law enforcement agency was formed in June 2000.
