Galiform plans to trim 560 jobs
http://news.bbc.co.uk/go/rss/-/1/hi/business/6244066.stm Version 0 of 1. Galiform, the former owner of MFI, has said it will cut 560 jobs as part of plans to restructure its business. The company will shift production from a plant in Hull to Howden in Yorkshire, and will base warehousing at factory sites and a main centre in Northampton. It said that it would focus production of rigid kitchen cabinets and worktops at Runcorn, Cheshire and at Howden. However, Galiform added it would create 550 jobs at its Howden Joinery business, all but offsetting the cuts. Galiform was set up October 2006 after MFI sold its retail business to private equity group Merchant Equity Partners for £1. Galiform agreed to invest in the business and also continue to supply MFI stores for up to two years. Merchant Equity Partners has pledged to invest £102m in MFI. |
