Gordon Brown is set to become the UK's prime minister, bringing to an end Tony Blair's 10 years in power. Tony Blair is in the Commons preparing for his final question time session after 10 years as prime minister.
Mr Blair will see the Queen and leave office after his final prime minister's questions session in the Commons and saying farewell to Downing St staff. After the question time ends at 1230 BST he will return briefly to Downing Street before making the short journey to give his resignation to the Queen.
Mr Brown is then expected to travel to meet the Queen, who will formally offer him the role in the early afternoon. Gordon Brown, Mr Blair's chancellor since 1997, will then be asked by the Queen to form a government.

After his final appearance at the Commons despatch box at midday, Mr Blair will visit Buckingham Palace to hand in his resignation. The world's media have been gathered in Downing Street from the early hours to witness the historic scenes, with removal van pulling up outside Number 10 being the focus of attention until Mr Blair set off to Parliament shortly after 1100 BST.
