Vandals have attacked the family home of Coleen McLoughlin, the fiancee of footballer Wayne Rooney.

Graffiti was daubed on walls and paths outside the home of Miss McLoughlin's family, including references to the Munich air disaster and Liverpool FC.

England star Rooney, a former boyhood Everton fan and player, signed for Manchester United in 2004.

Police confirmed they were investigating reports of criminal damage and were checking CCTV.

TV Career

Rooney's £27m transfer deal caused controversy among some Everton fans.

He has established himself as an England favourite and his fiancee has carved out a lucrative modelling and TV career of her own.

A spokeswoman for Merseyside Police confirmed they were investigating reports of criminal damage at an address in Huyton where graffiti was daubed on the walls of a building and paths overnight.
