Mother in court over dead girls

A mother has been remanded in custody after appearing in court charged with the murder of her two daughters.

Jasmine Kumari-Baker, 13, and her sister Davina, 16, were found stabbed at their mother's home in Stretham, near Ely, Cambridgeshire, on Wednesday.

Rekha Kumari-Baker, 39, appeared before Peterborough Magistrates Court spoke to confirm her name, age and address.

Ms Kumari-Baker was remanded in custody until an appearance at Cambridge Crown Court on 22 June.

Post-mortem examinations showed the teenagers had suffered multiple stab wounds, police said.
