Tony Blair's speech - in which he took the media to task for the way it reports politics - has prompted a flurry of comment in the papers.

Editor of the Independent Simon Kelner says he cannot let the assertions go unchallenged and responds on the front.

The Daily Mirror says the PM did not mention his administration's exploitation of news outlets.

The Sun says politicians who complain about the press are like sailors who moan about the weather.

Church revolt

The Sun and the Daily Express cover the interview given by Princes William and Harry to mark the forthcoming tenth anniversary of Princess Diana's death.

The Daily Telegraph reports that a coalition of Anglican leaders is to create a "breakaway" church for conservatives in America.

The Daily Express reports on the trial of a senior judge.

Lord Justice Stephen Richards denies exposing himself to a woman on a packed commuter train.

Difficult issue

The Times says that a new class of "smart" drugs is set to help tens of thousands of people crippled with rheumatoid arthritis.

They are said to reduce the symptoms of the joint disease by 50%.

The Mirror says dealing with paedophiles is one of the country's most difficult issues.

But it says proposals by Home Secretary John Reid to promote voluntary chemical castration "might, just might, offer a safe way forward".

Time bandit?

The Times offers photographic evidence of President Bush losing his watch after plunging into a crowd of adoring Albanians at the weekend.

He emerged seconds later with his personalised Timex missing.

But according to the Telegraph, Albania's police chief is having none of it, saying the suspected theft is "not true".

The paper says that, if lost, the watch would not be difficult to replace because it cost just £25.
