Detectives investigating an assault in which a taxi driver was set on fire after picking up a passenger have made a fresh appeal for the public's help.

A passenger attempted to strangle the driver from an Eastleigh taxi firm in Hants on Monday, 21 May, police said.

It is understood the passenger asked to stop in Stoneham Lane, where he then attacked the driver.

The Southampton driver, 51, who suffered serious burns remains in a burns unit in Salisbury, Wiltshire.
