A man who shook his baby daughter so hard she suffered a brain haemorrhage has been spared jail and ordered to go on an anger management course. Paul Chant, of Mathews Road, Yeovil, was found guilty after a jury at Exeter Crown Court heard real force would have been needed to cause the injuries. The court heard Chant, 20, shook the six-month old at her Torquay home because she would not stop crying. The child was saved by paramedics and doctors at Torbay Hospital. Chant was given a nine-month jail sentence, suspended for two years, and ordered to undergo rehabilitation. |
