Mass murderer Harold Shipman is to be the subject of an MPs'debate this month, the government has said.

Commons Leader Jack Straw said the debate would be held in Westminster Hall on 21 June.

He said only that the debate was likely to be on issues surrounding the Shipman case, but did not know exact details.

Manchester GP Shipman committed suicide in prison in 2004, while serving life sentences for 15 murders. He is thought to have killed up to 250 patients.
