An EHS spokesman said although the fly population had increased, it was "nowhere near infestation levels". The Environment and Heritage Service said it was satisfied that the fly problem is now under control.
It said the temporary closure was "precautionary". However, one local resident said the problem was ongoing.
"You can't open your windows you can't open your doors.
"If you're eating in your house at night, if my wife brings out the food out of the cupboard, you have to put it straight onto a plate which you bring out of a cupboard - you can't leave anything sitting down," Richard Belshaw said.
"Even when you're in bed at night the flies are walking over you in bed no matter how much you spray your house with flykiller."
