Mrs Parkhouse, who worked for 20 years at a local nursing home, spent the evening at the Top Club in Nantymoel, before taking a taxi back to her father's home on Cardiff Street, Ogmore Vale. | |
Police said it was not unusual for her to visit her father and spend time away from her marital home. | |
Mr Kemp said: "There was evidence of a fire having been started at the scene of the murder. It does appear the fire is connected. | |
"The cause of death is not 100% clear, but every indication is that she was probably suffocated. | |
The detective said there was no evidence of a break-in at the house, but the possibility had not been ruled out. | |
He added: "What's crucial to us is to get the support of the local community. I'm convinced Mrs Parkhouse knew her killer." | |

On Tuesday, her husband Andre, 45, paid tribute to a "wonderful wife, daughter and mother" who was "well-known and loved in the community". | |
"No-one had a bad word to say about Bev, and she loved nothing more than helping others," he said. | |
"The loss of Bev has left a huge hole in our lives, and on behalf of myself, Sarah, Ken and all of Bev's family, I would like to thank everyone for the support we have received. | |
"Those close to Bev, no doubt, will join me in asking the community for help in finding out what happened on Sunday night or Monday morning. | |
"If you have any information, then please come forward, to allow Bev the justice she deserves." | |
