Call for update in legal training
http://news.bbc.co.uk/go/rss/-/1/hi/scotland/6696907.stm Version 0 of 1. The legal profession is to update the way solicitors are trained, following a consultation by the Law Society of Scotland. There will be more emphasis on teaching solicitors to speak and write in plain English and to be more tactful. The society canvassed opinion in and out of the profession, including bodies such as Scottish Women's Aid and the Scottish Refugees Council. It said it aimed to open up legal work to a broader cross-section of society. The Law Society of Scotland has said that the creation of a distance learning course will allow a greater diversity of people to access the profession. Students will be able to complete a certain amount of their training at home. |
