A 15-year-old boy has been charged with the murder of Sam Brown, who was stabbed to death in Blackpool.

The 16-year-old died from a single stab wound when he was attacked near his home in Cockerham Walk, in the Grange Park area of Blackpool on Monday.

The boy, who has not been named, is also charged with the attempted murder of Sam's 26-year-old friend, who was also stabbed in the incident.

He is due to appear before Blackpool magistrates on Saturday.

A female who was being questioned has been released without charge.

A second male is still being questioned over the incident.

Sam was a student at St Mary's Catholic College and was due to sit an English GCSE exam last Tuesday.

He had taken a part-time job in a supermarket and had planned to train as a plumber.
