Second jail term for Kluk killer

The man convicted of murdering Angelika Kluk has received a further 30-month sentence for breaching the terms of the sex offenders register.

Peter Tobin was placed on the register for a double sex attack on two schoolgirls in 1994.

The 60-year-old appeared at the High Court in Edinburgh just weeks after he was sentenced to a minimum of 21 years for the rape and murder of Ms Kluk.

The jail term is to be served alongside the life sentence for the murder.

Tobin had been on the run for almost a year before he killed the student at St Patrick's Church in Glasgow last September, the court heard.

He had been jailed for 14 years in 1994 for the sex attack on two teenage girls in the Portsmouth area.

Church handyman

Released on licence 10 years later, he moved to Paisley and checked in as required with police.

But when they were investigating an alleged incident in the town two years ago they could not trace the registered sex offender at his address and a warrant was issued for his arrest.

Tobin, who his defence claimed found life in Paisley untenable, was working as a handyman at the Glasgow church where he raped and murdered Ms Kluk.

Police later found Tobin in a London hospital using the alias James Kelly.
