Fire crews rescued the woman from the house in Elstree Road, Merryoak, Southampton, after the blast early on Sunday morning. It is thought she was making breakfast on a gas stove when there was an explosion which caused part of the house to collapse. She is being treated in hospital but her condition is not serious. A fire service spokeswoman said people from surrounding properties were immediately evacuated but were quickly allowed back in their homes when firefighters were confident there would be no more explosions. She said they were amazed there was no damage to any surrounding properties. |
