It was found by a member of the public on Allonby Bay north of Maryport on Saturday morning. Maryport Coastguard and the British Divers Marine Life Rescue were called to the scene, but the animal died shortly afterwards. Marra, the famous Maryport dolphin, was discovered dead on a beach in Skinburness last December. She died of a bacterial infection. The dolphin found this weekend was taken to London's Natural History Museum for a post-mortem examination. |
