Israeli aircraft have fired missiles at a car in Gaza City, killing three people, at least two of them said to be Hamas fighters. Israel has launched several overnight air raids in Gaza, which the Israeli army says are in response to recent Palestinian missile attacks on Israel.
Israeli missiles also targeted metal workshops that were allegedly being used to make bombs elsewhere in Gaza. In Gaza City three people, at least two of them Hamas fighters, died when their car was struck, army officials said.
Israel says it is retaliating against Palestinian missile attacks. Palestinian medical officials said four people were killed in the raids, three of them civilians.
Meanwhile, Hamas and rival Palestinian militia group, Fatah, have announced another ceasefire in an effort to curb bloody infighting in Gaza. Missiles also destroyed two buildings elsewhere in Gaza, which Israel said were being used as bomb workshops.
It is the fifth such truce since violence broke out last Sunday. Since then about 50 people have died in clashes between the two groups. There were no reports of injuries in those attacks.
